INTER-CARE Ltd. is a comprehensive treatment service provider for individuals and families affected by alcoholism and other drug dependencies. We are licensed by the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services, offering a broad range of outpatient services.  Inter-Care began in 1988 as a two-person clinical practice and is now a multi-disciplinary facility with a staff of twenty full-time staff members. We are a medical-model with an emphasis on family involvement in treatment. Our outpatient treatment programs serve the greater New York community.  Inter-Care's focus is on long-term recovery and personal growth for the individual and the family. We provide the professional care and support, experience and tools that go beyond total abstinence, giving our clients the ability and the positive energy to take on life's daily challenges.

Weekend Workshop

Improving Communication in Couples

Saturday, April 19, 2014, 1 pm - 5 pm &
Saturday, April 26, 2014, 1 pm - 5 pm


This two-part workshop will teach couples how to communicate with each other more openly and clearly, helping to shift them from conflict or distance to genuine intimacy. Participants will learn effective principles and guidelines, and will have opportunities to practice these new skills with professional coaching.

Space is limited to 8 couples

Lee D. Kassan, M.A., L.P., L.M.H.C., C.G.P., has practiced as a psychotherapist since 1980, and is a Licensed Psychoanalyst, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and a Certified Group Psychotherapist. He is on the Board of Directors of the Eastern Group Psychotherapy Society and is Associate Editor of the journal GROUP. He has published five books about psychotherapy, most recently Peer Supervision Groups: How They Work and Why You Need One.  He specializes in couple therapy and has presented workshops on his way of working at the annual conferences of the American Group Psychotherapy Association and the Eastern Group Psychotherapy Society, and also for the Group Division of the New York State Psychological Association.
