THE INTER-CARE APPROACH

The INTER-CARE model focuses on long-term recovery and personal growth. Our therapeutic approach provides the motivation, support, experience and tools that give our patients the ability to take on life’s daily challenges.
INTER-CARE takes pride in providing a safe, caring environment that ensures dignity and confidentiality.

Treatment at INTER-CARE is highly individualized. During admission, each
patient receives a comprehensive assessment interview where a psychosocial
evaluation is completed. A plan is then designed from a menu of clinical
services appropriate to the respective level of care, as established by the American
Society of Addiction Medicine. Diagnostic and monitoring tools, including drug testing, may be used to ensure effective and favorable treatment outcomes.

Most importantly, at the heart of all of our programs is the family. INTER-CARE offers family education, support groups and counseling to facilitate the family’s participation in the recovery process.

INTER-CARE is guided by Nicholas R. Lessa, MA, LCSW, CASAC, the facility’s Chief Executive Officer, with a staff comprised of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, credentialed addiction specialists, and physician assistants. Our
multidisciplinary team has been trained in a variety of innovative treatment
approaches including Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT),
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), EMDR, Twelve-Step Philosophy and
Addiction Medicine.

EVALUATION AND ASSESSMENT SERVICES
Our specially trained clinicians provide comprehensive and confidential evaluations and assessments
utilizing the latest diagnostic tools including the SASSI, the RIASI, and BADDS screening instruments. Our expert team responds quickly to DWI assessment and court-ordered requests, employee assistance
professionals, DOT-related issues, and private practitioners.

MOTIVATIONAL AND EARLY INTERVENTION SERVICES

These services are coordinated around an eight-week program developed for those who do not meet
criteria for a substance use disorder, but who have exhibited signs of at-risk substance use. Participants include: first-time positives on employer drug tests; employees in safety-sensitive positions; DWI referrals; and individuals who are resistant to treatment. Motivational strategies and standardized drug and alcohol assessment tools are used in therapeutic workshops to educate and increase the awareness of the personal consequences of continued usage.

INTENSIVE OutPatient PROGRAM (IOP ) — DAY OR EVENING
This is an intensive two-step program of rehabilitation offering individual counseling, group therapy, and psycho-education, with a focus on recovery and relapse prevention.

Phase I is the most intensive, with three to six visits weekly for a period of four to six weeks. In Phase II, patients still maintain a high level of treatment intensity meeting two times per week for 12 weeks. Upon
IOP program completion, the patient continues in an individualized advanced recovery program and is
encouraged to join the Alumni Association.

EARLY THROUGH ADVANCED RECOVERY PROGRAMS
These programs have been developed for those patients whose presenting treatment needs indicate a less intensive program of rehabilitation. These programs meet one to three times weekly and include individual, couples or family counseling, and group therapy.

DUAL DIAGNOSIS PROGRAM
This program provides an integrated treatment approach for coexisting chemical dependency and
psychiatric disorders. The program and its specialized team are managed by a board-certified psychiatrist,
who is involved in all assessments and treatment planning. Individual and group counseling, as well as psychopharmacological therapy provide the program’s infrastructure. The severity of the disorder will
determine the frequency of visits and intensity of the program, with a maximum of four visits per week.

FAMILY TREATMENT SERVICES
INTER-CARE strongly encourages the family to participate in the treatment process.
While a patient is proceeding with treatment, we involve other family members in a parallel process that
enriches and promotes recovery for all. Through individual and couples counseling, family therapy, multi-family groups and an education series, the family begins to:
• Understand the disease of addiction and its personal impacts
• Closely examine relationships, attitudes and patterns of behavior
• Develop new and better ways to communicate
• Enjoy personal growth and changes in lifestyle
